WHO EXPERT COMMITTEE ON BIOLOGICAL STANDARDIZATION - WHO Technical Report Series 840. Forty-third report. World Health Organization, Geneva 1994. pp. 218.

This report starts with information on the status and development of reference materials for various antibiotics, antibodies, antigens, blood products, cytokines, growth factors and endocrinological substances. The second part of the report gives in detail the requirements for Vi polysaccharide typhoid vaccine; for collection, processing and quality control of blood, blood components and plasma derivatives; and for live measles, mumps, rubella and combined vaccines. The report also includes some amendments to the requirements of rabies vaccine for human and veterinary use. This authoritative report will be useful to all laboratories producing or carrying out research in biological materials and will be an important addition in the libraries of medical teaching and research institutes.
